Anime

Nanashi (ナナシ, Nanashi; Literally meaning "nameless") is the chief of Luberia and a member of Team MÄR.

Appearance[]

Nanashi has long blonde hair and turquoise eyes, although rarely are his eyes shown, and instead have them hidden behind a cloth headband.

Personality[]

Nanashi speaks with a Kansai dialect, a trait not found throughout MÄR Heaven. Much like Ginta Toramizu, Nanashi is ever happy and optimistic, and is rarely ever seen without a smile on his face (although, usually caused by his flirtatious attitude with women). He believes that things will eventually work out, despite however bad things seem. Nanashi is also very playful, and commonly teases other members of Team MÄR, particularly Alviss for his dark and unhappy views. Nanashi can find fun out of anything if he tries, as seen in the anime fillers.

Despite his happy and go-getter point of view, Nanashi is at times very serious and almost dark. He refuses to forgive anyone who hurts his friends or other Luberian members. In battle, Nanashi is shown as a serious and strong-minded fighter, rarely letting his emotions get in the way of his battle, or rather, at least with male enemies. Nanashi, however, can still find enjoyment out of fighting, as seen with his optimism during his fight with Aqua.

Nanashi is also quite the lady's man. When he first met Snow and Dorothy, he asked the two out on a date at once and called them "hotties". Like Jack, Nanashi commonly flirts with Dorothy, and also follows her around complete with a deadpan look on his face. Nanashi is usually seen flirting around with at least five girls at once, [1] earning him a large amount of crushes. He has also been known to flirt with female Chess Pieces on two occasions, one with Loco, who's technically older than him, and the other with Aqua. [2] Nanashi is often called a pervert for his flirting. [2] Luberia itself notes on how Nanashi's flirting grows out of control at times, and also tries its best to make sure he doesn't flirt too much on missions. [3]

History[]

Nanashi suffers from dissociative amnesia, thus his background remains mystery to himself and fellow bandits, though it's heavily implied that he was Joker from Flame of Recca. Joker, one Kurei Mori's Jyūshinshū, was stabbed in the stomach by Kadotsu, and a fight ensued. Joker's madōgu, the Taishaku Kaiten, lets him have control over gravity within a fixed radius. In a final move, Joker opened up a black hole with his madōgu, which pulled both Kadotsu and himself in, leaving his Taishaku Kaiten behind on Earth. Kurei sensed that Joker sacrificed himself against Kadotsu, as Kurei murmurs his name as Joker was getting sucked into the black hole, possibly assuming that Joker had died.

Arrival in MÄR Heaven[]

Galian's Kindness

Galian gives Joker a new shirt and name.

One day in the parallel world of MÄR Heaven, Galian, the chief of Luberia, found Joker in a canyon near his fortress, after the latter regained consciousness. Galian used a Holy ÄRM to heal his stomach wound and brought Joker to the Luberia Fortress. Joker comments how impressive Galian's Holy ÄRM, still not understanding what an ÄRM was. Joker revealed he couldn't remember his past or his own name. Galian gave him a new name, "Nanashi", meaning "nameless".

Nanashi, still adjusting to his new life at the fortress, awoke from a nap days later to the ruckus upstairs of a gorilla-like monster rampaging into the fort. Mock tried to warn Nanashi to stay away from the danger, which the bandits struggled to contain with Galian being absent at the time. As the monster swung a punch at Nanashi, he stopped it with one hand, displaying impressive Earthly physical strength that shocked the bandits. Nanashi procedes to push the monster back with is hand and toss it away effortlessly.

Nanashi and Galian would become best of friends, getting along the best out of all of Luberia's members. Galian, however, in a craving of power, would betray Luberia and Nanashi and joined the Chess Pieces, installing Nanashi as the new leader and wiping him of any memories Nanashi had of Galian.

Nanashi, as the new chief, lead the guild just as effectively as Galian had, though when his fellow thieves inquired him about Galian, he wouldn't know what they were referring to and complain about having a headache, leaving the bandits to eventually give up on asking. Despite Nanashi knowing very little about the first war with the Chess, there were still occasionally minor skirmishes between them and the bandits, sometimes involving him. One Luberian girl, Pirun, was saved by Nanashi when she was under the attack of a few Chess Pieces. Pirun and Nanashi would grow close together, with Pirun affectionately calling Nanashi "big brother".

One day, Nanashi returned with a haul of treasure that included several ÄRMs. The bandits tell the women at the fort that they intend to sell the haul at the market and for anyone who's interested in any items in it must take it now. Pirun noticed an ÄRM that was shaped like a shield with a white maiden etched into it. When she asks what it is, Nanashi responds that it was an ÄRM that none of them knew how to use or what kind it was. He then gives it to her as a present.

However, sometime after while Nanashi and some of the other bandits were away, Pirun and many other Luberians would be killed by Peta during his attack on Luberia Fortress.

Second Great MÄR-Heaven War[]

Nanashi Holding Pirun's Body

Nanashi holding Pirun's dead body in grief.

That night, as Nanashi and other bandits were returning to the the fort, Mock and Chap ran to meet Nanashi, crying that the fort had been attacked and most of the people inside had their blood sucked out by a Chess Piece. Chap mentioned Pirun as one of the victims. Horrified, Nanashi and the other bandits ran to the fortress to assess the the damage and death toll. What few survivors there were had already collected the dead bodies and arranged them for identification and burial. Nanashi walked through the hall, glancing at how many there were, when he noticed a hand sticking out from under the woven blanket clutching onto a shield ÄRM. Nanashi realized it was Pirun, and got on his knees to hold Pirun's body while she was still wrapped in the blanket.

The next morning during a storm, a funeral procession carried all of the deceased victims to a hastily readied cemetery near the river gorge. When the wagon that carried Pirun's body hit a pothole on the trail, Pirun's ÄRM which had been laying on top of the blanket covering her fell off and into the river at the bottom of the gorge. Nanashi initially tried to go after it, but stared down to the river below, accepting that it was lost.

At her grave, Nanashi grieved, vowing to avenge Pirun and the other victims by killing whoever attacked Luberia's fortress, no matter the cost.

Nanashi's Invitation

Nanashi formally introduces himself and invites Team MÄR to his fortress.

A few days later, Nanashi and other bandits attack Team MÄR, believing them to be Chess Pieces, though he later realizes his mistake. Nanashi is quick to befriend Team MÄR, once he becomes excitable at the sight of Snow and a glimpse of Dorothy's exposed legs. He squeals over the two cute girls, voicing his desire to escort them rather than steal from them, before being pulled away by his followers to calm down. Once he is settled, he properly introduces himself and fellow bandits, and invites Team MÄR to tag along with them back to their fortress. Ginta asks for Snow's input, and then accepts. Nanashi uses his Andata ÄRM to warp everyone back to Luberia Fortress.

Nanashi leads Team MÄR into the first main hall that was still in shambles and listens to their story. He reveals to them the state of the world. Nanashi also leads them to the cemetery behind the fortress, the graves of which commemorate those massacred by Peta. A bandit comes to inform Nanashi that the town of Vestry was under siege by the Chess. Nanashi then decides to join Team MÄR as the sixth member, and takes them to Vestry, where two Chess Pieces are causing another massacre. The surviving villagers inform them that the two Chess Pieces who attacked them were still there, delving into Vestry's littoral cave that contains an underground lake. Ginta, Babbo, Dorothy, and Nanashi volunteer to go after them while Jack, Snow, and Edward stay in the village to help.

They split off into two directions, with Nanashi paired up with Dorothy. They eventually encounter a Bishop by the name of Orco. Nanashi volunteers to fight him alone, saying that his desire to pulverize the Chess was no less than Ginta's. Orco angrily throws a punch downward at Nanashi, only to miss and smash the ground instead due dodging. Orco's fist revealed itself to be unscathed by the impact, as he had equipped the bracelet form of the Nature ÄRM, Body Hardener. He then grabs smaller rocks made from the impact and chucks them at Nanashi, but his quick (yet frantic) movements leave him unscathed. Dorothy activates her Zephyrus Broom, saying it was to risky to continue watching, but Nanashi assured her it was nothing he couldn't handle. Orco admits to being hungry and pulls out sausages from his pocket to consume. As he eats, he warns them of who he is and his intent to kill them. Nanashi tells him to savor the sausages he ate for it would be his last meal. He interrogates Orco for information regarding who was responsible for the attack on Vestry and asks how it felt after Orco admited his and Girom's guilt. His anger grew as Orco boasted about how fun it was to destroy houses and frighten people. Nanashi tells the brute that the cave would be his grave, causing him to angrily throw another punch. Nanashi effortlessly stops Orco's fist with the palm of his hand, shocking Dorothy with his intense physical strength. He then jumps up and punches him back in the face, declaring him to be weak. Orco flies back into the pool of water behind him, and Nanashi asks him who among the Chess wields an ÄRM that sucks out blood. Orco is quick to respond Peta's name, hoping he would be spared from Nanashi's wrath. Satisfied, he uses his Electric Eye to zap Orco, its power intensifying due to the conduction of being in the water. Nanashi comments that every time he uses this ÄRM, he faintly sees the same silhouette.

War Games[]

Round 2[]

Observing the first match between Snow and Fuugi, Nanashi on the sidelines compliments Snow's skills with her ÄRM and mentions that while he's there for vengeance of Luberia, her reason for being there is far bigger as the princess of the country that the Chess call their headquarters and in a way is responsible for all the terrible things being done to MÄR Heaven.

Nanashi steps forward for the second match, going up against Loco. Nanashi begins the match by offering Loco the first move saying "ladies first". Annoyed that she wasn't being taken seriously, she declares the fight will be over in the first attack. She drops the suitcase she always has with her and opens it up revealing her Darkness ÄRM, Negzero. It curses Nanashi and seals his movements, keeping him from being able to move. She then takes out her chained straw doll from her suitcase, her next Darkness ÄRM, Straw Doll, along with her Hammer and Spikes. Loco takes the first spike and using the hammer drives it into the left arm of the straw doll. As soon as she does Nanashi cries out in pain. Dorothy mentions that Darkness ÄRM place disaster on not only the target but the user as well. Loco explains that her Darkness ÄRMs do not physically harm her as the cost for using them is a loss of age, and that despite her childish appearance she is actually 32 years old. She then drives the next spike in the opposite arm of the straw doll once again causing Nanashi extreme pain. She compliments Nanashi as most people die from the second spike from shock. She hammers in the third spike into the straw doll's chest once again causing Nanashi great pain.

Snow hollers to Nanashi, telling him to give up or he will die. He responds that he'll surrender on the condition that Dorothy removes her clothes for him to see. Dorothy angrily refuses, so he does not surrender. Nanashi's arms begin to tremble and in the next second he breaks free from Negzero's curse with sheer will power. She quickly hammers in the fourth spike as Nanashi beings to move his arm towards Loco. Loco comments that Nanashi is a monster due to the fact he's taking the damage and broke a Darkness ÄRM without the use of a Holy ÄRM. She quickly hammers the fifth and final spike. Immediately after the final spike is used Nanashi uses his Electric Eye to strike the straw doll with a bolt of lightning and burn it. He comments that the lightning isn't meant for her but Peta. He then passed out from all the damage he's taken from Loco. Pozun declares Loco as the winner of the match, but she acknowledges that she should've lost, as not only did Nanashi manage to survive her Darkness ÄRMs and break free of them, but that she could've been electrocuted to death had Nanashi intended to kill her.

Round 4[]

As Ginta intends to fight Girom, Nanashi chooses to fight Aqua, though Dorothy, Alviss, and Jack call him a pervert. When the battle begins, Nanashi offers her the first move, repeating the same reckless chivalry he displayed in his previous match. Aqua then summons her Guardian ÄRM, Akko, and it casually drags itself across the rough snowy surface towards Nanashi. He jumps over it to dodge, activating his Weapon ÄRM, Griffin Lance, to attack the Guardian as it came back around. Nanashi's initial strike barely caused a dent in the clam's hard shell, as Aqua sings Akko's praises regarding its defense. Aqua calls for Akko to use its Pearl Attack, and the Guardian leaps into the air to shoot countless pearls out of its mouth at Nanashi. He frantically runs out of the way and manages dodge all of them.

Aqua changes her strategy and recalls Akko into ÄRM form. She then leaps into the air and materializes ice skates at the bottom of her shoes. Nanashi is confused by this move, but nonetheless watches as she skates across the ice around him. After skating multiple revolutions around Nanashi, Aqua skates off to the side to put distance between herself and him. She takes the conch shell from her head, and blows into it, revealing it to be her Nature ÄRM, Supikara. The sound attracts a large sea creature from the water under the ice to hone in on Nanashi from underneath, using the circle Aqua made as a target. Despite the monstrous fish successfully inhales him into its mouth, Nanashi pierces through the roof of the creature's mouth with his Griffin Lance and escapes.

Aqua resummons her Guardian and chooses to hide inside Akko for one final and last chance attack. Using the Rolling Akko-chan technique, Akko spins counterclockwise rapidly with Aqua inside and lunges toward him. Nanashi, however, leaps over the spinning clam and uses his Nature ÄRM, Electric Eye, to zap Akko and knock out a very dizzy Aqua from its mouth. In an attempt to save Aqua from Rapunzel's wrath, Nanashi falls onto the ground and pretends to be exhausted, leading Pozun to call the match a draw.

RIP Aqua

Nanashi laying Aqua to rest.

Before leaving, Aqua thanks Nanashi as he wishes for her to take care. Rapunzel, however, is angry that the enemy sympathized her, and plays "Rock-Paper-Scissors" with Aqua for her life. Aqua wins by beating Rapunzel's "Paper" with "Scissors", but is immediately impaled by Girom, who declared that he had "Rock" with his fist, and had used Iced Earth from his fist to create an ice sword that he used to stab her. Aqua weakly apologized to Nanashi as she fell to the ground and died. Enraged by the cruelty of Rapunzel and Girom, Ginta violently attacks Girom, initiating the next match. This upsets Nanashi greatly, as he screams her name[4].

After the fourth round ended, Pozun prepares to use his Andata to send the surviving participants back to Reginleif Castle, but Nanashi interupts him, holding Aqua in his arms. He wades into shallower icy water and sets her on the water's surface, gently pushing her away from him so that she would float and then sink into the sloped trench before him. Nanashi wishes that she rest in peace with her watery burial.

Aftermath[]
Nanashi's Unease

Nanashi worrying about his opponent in the next round.

Returning from Caldea, Nanashi is told by Ash, one of the Zodiac Knights, that a man in the Chess specifically requests to fight Nanashi in the fifth round. He accepts the challenge and spends much of the rest of the day with two of his fangirls, casually pondering over the identity of his challenger. However, by evening Nanashi sits outside worrying about it. Edward approaches and asks about his unease. Nanashi attempts to hide his anxiety by claiming he was wondering what kind of cute girl she was, but Edward is quick to remind him that the challenger is male. Sitting nearby, Alan yells at the two to be quiet, as he's trying to enjoy his Pupura Juice in peace under the full moon. Nanashi casually watches as Alan and Edward celebrate the end of their fused relationship to each other.

Round 5[]

After Pozun declares Ginta the winner of the fourth match, a dark portal forms in the air above, and through it Galian arrives on the battlefield, surprised that Ash lost his fighting spirit. He greets Nanashi casually, but after a few moments to study him, Nanashi asks who he is. The rest of Team MÄR holler at him for not knowing who this new person is, but Galian explains that he had erased any memory of himself from Nanashi's mind concerning him in their last meeting and that Nanashi should remember shortly after their reunion. As the Pozun names the competitors in the match and signals the start, Nanashi realizes he recognizes Galian's name and thus does know him, but doesn't have much time to dwell on it as Galian activates the Weapon ÄRM, Magic Rope. A huge urn appears and from it slither out several strands of rope with little skulls at the ends of them. They lunge towards Nanashi who equips his Weapon ÄRM, Griffin Lance, and cuts the ends off of several of the pieces of rope but still manages to get tied up by a large number of the ropes. Nanashi notices that all the ropes come from the urn and uses Electric Eye to destroy the urn. Nanashi once more has another memory flash of the same silhouette, finally coming into form as Galian. Galian tells Nanashi that he saved Nanashi's life in the past and now he's trying to take that very life.

He uses his Nature ÄRM, Electric Frisbee. The ÄRM activates and causes a chain of lighting to flow between each of the frisbees and attacking Nanashi. As he's being zapped, he faintly recalls another memory of Galian's voice, telling him he nearly died and giving him the name "Nanashi". Hearing his teammates call out to him snaps him out of his daze, and he uses his Weapon ÄRM, Thousand Needles, to cause numerous long spikes to emerge from the ground and impale the frisbees, destroying them and stopping the lightning. Nanashi fires a burst of lighting from Electric Eye towards Galian but Galian intercepts it with his Nature ÄRM, Hiraiken, which not only absorbs the lightning but allows it to be fired back at Nanashi. As it strikes Nanashi, all of his memories regarding Galian return. Nanashi confirms to his team that Galian did save his life, gave him his name, and identified him as the previous chief of Luberia.

Battle of Luberian Chiefs

Galian and Nanashi clash in battle.

As the two continue to clash with their weapons, Nanashi angrily asks Galian why he betrayed the thieves' guild and joined the Chess. Galian replied that the power the Chess had enticed him more that the bonds of family. Nanashi tells Galian what he did is unforgivable. He abandoned everyone just for power and that it's Nanashi's duty to defeat him. Galian questions if Nanashi can defeat him while he activates the Weapon ÄRM, Electric Feather. Nanashi is surrounded by feathers that then electrocute Nanashi. Galian explains that from the day he met Nanashi, he saw the latter's high potential and might be someone who would oppose the Chess. Given that Galian always wanted a true battle against Nanashi, he believes it to be fate that the two of them would now fight. Nanashi and Galian then have a clash with Griffin Lance and Hiraiken. The two exchange blows back and forth. Ginta calls out to Nanashi reminding him not to get lost in his emotions and that he still has to avenge Luberia.

Galian tells Nanashi that he will be defeated to prove that the path of strength that Galian chose is the right one and activates his final weapon, the Guardian ÄRM, Torpedine. A huge ray appears with a mouth on its back, the mouth opens up and unleashes a giant blast of lightning that strikes Nanashi. Instead of trying to dodge of defend, Nanashi stays in place and takes the hit head on, utilizing his endurance to draw out magic as the amount of magic he can channel is at its highest. Nanashi activates his new Guardian ÄRM, Gymnote. Gymnote encircles Galian's Guardian and then tightens its coils until it crushes Torpedine. Gymnote then opens its maw and fires a blast of electricity at Galian. Galian comments that he can't be electrified and uses Hiraiken to absorb the lightning but it overwhelms the sword, causing it to crack and shatter. Galian takes the full force of the lightning blast and collapses on the ground.

Galian questions why he lost and Nanashi informs him that a person uses their power for their friends and since Galian threw away his friends, he has no real power. Galian acknowledges Nanashi to be a great leader for Luberia, and admits that he was partially envious of him. Nanashi gives Galian a thumbs up in gratitude, saying he would keep the name and life he had given him. Pozun then declares Nanashi the winner.

Aftermath[]

Returning to Reginleif Castle, Nanashi and the rest of his teammates have fun in one of the ballrooms enjoying a costume party that Snow and Dorothy put together.

The next day for lunch, Nanashi does a cookout with some of his teammates in the castle grounds with a large griddle made of cast iron with hemispherical molds over a campfire. Despite not having a plan on what to prepare, he brags that as the boss of Luberia he knows all of the cuisines in MÄR Heaven. Nanashi holds up a bag of wheat and a live octopus and comes up with an idea. Mixing batter and pouring it into each of the molds, he drops tiny bits of the octopus meat into each one. As he makes casual war cries flipping them over, Ginta recognizes the food that Nanashi's making as takoyaki, a Japanese dish native to Earth. Jack asks what takoyaki is and Alviss declines having some, saying "anything that looks like that can't be considered as food".

Round 6[]
Round 7[]
Match 1[]
Match 2[]

To celebrate Alviss's victory, Nanashi and his teammates go to the local bath house, despite everyone wearing swimsuits. Nanashi gleefully jumps into the hot bath with many local girls to splash with them. He then joins his male teammates to pamper Dorothy by offering his own brand of back massage.

Match 3[]

Dorothy defeats Chimera and that night Alan takes his team out for dinner at a local restaurant. The team was initially repulsed by the cuisine, consisting of several large insects and lizards, but they all change their perceptions and dig in after Ginta bravely tries it first. Nanashi and his team become alarmed when Alan suddenly grabs a passing customer's arm due to the bracelet ÄRM he wore. Alviss calls to him to snap him out of his angry trance, and he lets go of the customer's arm. Alan goes outside for fresh air and Alviss follows. The rest of the team continues eating, but realizes none of them have money to pay for the bill. They then turn to Edward to pay for them.

Match 4[]

Nanashi and the rest of Team MÄR observe each others' matches in the last round of the War Games in person. In the fourth match, Halloween activates his Darkness ÄRM, Grave Hail, which summons the reanimated corpses of Alan's teammates in the Cross Guard from the first war. Nanashi empathizes with Alan's body hesitating, commenting that it's difficult to fight against former comrades, and clenches his fists as Alan begins destroying the zombies. Later he expresses sheer shock at Alan physically kicking aside Halloween's Guardian Wakan Tanka, whereas Alviss marvels over his greatness.

Match 5[]

Immediately after Halloween's loss to Alan, Peta appears on the arena and Nanashi rushes up to meet him one-on-one. Nanashi says he intends to avenge his fellow Luberians who were murdered by him. Peta excuses his actions from that day, saying that he did warn them and needed to defend himself from any "danger", but Nanashi rejects this reasoning, stating that women and children were among his victims. Peta responds with a blast of wind, saying that it was the policy of the Chess to annihilate them and Nanashi would join them in their match the following day. Peta disappears, and Nanashi decides to warp back to Luberia Fortress alone to clear his head.

Nanashi chats with some of the surviving women and children at the fort before visiting the cemetery out back. He pours a drink into his mug, remembering his fallen brethren, before raising it in the air for a toast. Nanashi walks up to Pirun's grave and rubs her bandana wrapped around her grave marker between his index finger and thumb, thinking of the time he gave her an ÄRM from his then latest plunder which caught her interest. Ginta, Dorothy, Alviss, and the other bandits met up with him at the cemetery, checking on his wellbeing. Nanashi assures them that he was just making a promise to everyone who had died that he would avenge them. As Nanashi walks back insisting that they all get dinner at the fort, Stanley mentions that he has an ominous feeling about Nanashi's match against Peta.

After dinner, Galian ambushes Nanashi outside and chases him to a rope bridge, in an attempt to stop him from fighting Peta the next day. Nanashi catches him off guard by destroying the bridge they stood on, both of them falling in to the river below. Before swimming back up to the surface, Nanashi sees Pirun's ÄRM on the riverbed glowing red, prompting him to grab it. The other bandits help him up from climbing back up the cliff, and Alviss inquires about the ÄRM in Nanashi's hand. Nanashi says it's nothing before suggesting that they all go back to the fort. Galian climbs back up behind them, calling out to Nanashi that he'll die tomorrow if he goes through with fighting Peta. Nanashi says nothing, continuing back to the cemetery to return Pirun's ÄRM to her grave marker. Alviss and Dorothy conclude to the others that Galian came to intervene because he knew Nanashi was prepared to die in his match against Peta, as it was the only way he could stand a chance against him. The other bandits try to talk him out of it, but Nanashi tells them not to worry, before warping back to Reginleof Castle alone. Dorothy glances at Alviss, who's thinking of the ÄRM at the grave marker that resumed glowing.

The next day, Alviss meets with Nanashi to hand him Pirun's ÄRM, saying that it wants him to take it with him into battle. Just before the match starts, Dorothy tells him to make sure he wins. Nanashi asks for kiss from her if he wins, to which Dorothy agrees much to his surprise. Nanashi finds much difficulty in the battle, being unable to harm Peta with physical attacks and having any lightning-based attack reflected back at him thanks to his Blood Body and Dark Reflector ÄRMs. Nanashi then frantically tries to slice Peta up and immediately follow it with an electric attack to prevent him from using his Dark Reflector while in a free-form liquid state, however Peta merely morphs his body around Nanashi to squeeze him. Using his hand, he summons back his Griffin Lance to break free, but fatigue takes its toll on his body. Peta uses his Garnet Claw to slash at Nanashi, knocking him to the ground. Peta explains to Nanashi that he devotedly serves Phantom and follows any of his wishes, though Nanashi shows no interest in this, caring more about avenging Luberia. Peta activates his Blood Syringe, attaching to Nanashi to drain him of his blood, magic power, and energy. Nanashi, becoming faint and pale, uses what scarce amount of magic power he has left to cause the full orbs to shatter, but Peta then uses the magic-blood solution to reform into a crystal and drop it, impaling Nanashi through his back. He continues to struggle, using his last remaining magic power to shatter the crystal sticking out from his back and physically pulling out the remaining crystal piece from his gut. He tries to stand, but Peta attacks again with his Garnet Claw, cutting him up even more until he falls again on his back. Peta summons his Sickle Death back to use to finish Nanashi off.

Just as Peta swings his Sickle Death down, the scythe breaks in two upon impacting a barrier that formed around Nanashi. Pirun's spirit appears above him praying, as her ÄRM, the Legendary Holy ÄRM - Aegis, activates in response to the threat to his critical condition. The ÄRM not only protected him from further harm, but also restored Nanashi to full health and replenished all of his magical energy that was previously lost in the battle. Nanashi stands up again, fully healed and with a full tank of magic power, whereas Peta used up a great deal with his own ÄRMs. Peta attempts to use Blood Syringe once more, but Aegis manifests itself into a larger form to block the attack, and hiding Nanashi from his sight. Out of frustration, Peta summons his Guardian ÄRM, Body Eye, to destroy the shield. Despite being successful, he lost sight of Nanashi, who had jumped in the air with his lance when the shield shattered and thrusted the lance downward, shattering Peta's Blood Body ÄRM. Nanashi then summons Gymnote, using it to destroy Peta's Guardian and restrain Peta. Nanashi enacts his revenge against Peta, incapacitating him using a combination of his Electric Eye followed by a single deep slash with his Griffin Lance, killing Peta instantly. The crowd speechless, Nanashi puts away his lance as Pozun rushes up to Peta's body to inspect. With Peta's corpse dissolving, Pozun declares Nanashi the winner. Everyone cheers, and Galian, who watched from the back, smiled before walking away. Nanashi picks up a broken piece of Aegis and says it's the best charm he could ever have, thanking Pirun. He steps off the stage telling Ginta that he was next up, before turning to Dorothy, reminding her of the deal they made before the match about her giving a kiss for winning. Dorothy plays dumb, much to Nanashi's disappointment.

Match 6[]

After the War Games[]

Reuniting with Pano in Acalupa Port, Nanashi and his teammates go with her back to a vacant cottage she and her family were temporarily hiding in. Pano aggressively eats off of lobster while telling what she knows of the fate of the remaining Chess Pieces. Jack invites Pano and her family to come to his home on Pazurika Island, confident that the people there would accept them. Pano happily accepts Jack's offer, before turning to Snow to inquire if she was feeling well enough to use her ÄRMs.

Suddenly, the weather outside changes, and Leno and Garon return to the cottage injured. Before they can say anything to Pano, their bodies disintegrate into dark matter and evaporate, much to her horror. Nanashi recognizes it as the same way Alan "died". They catch a glimpse of a fiery bird through the open doorway swooping in, and Alviss yells for everyone to get out of the house. The bird sets the house ablaze upon contact. Alviss, Belle, Nanashi, and Snow, make it out relatively unscathed, but Jack and Pano reacted too slowly and were still inside at the moment it went up in flames. Pano had lost consciousness and Jack carried her with her arm over his shoulder as they both faltered on their way outside. Jack then falls to the ground passing out, too, both with minor burns. The rest of Team MÄR is forced to flee from the mysterious masked man that commanded the fire bird, leaving Jack and Pano behind.

The masked man corners them in the woods, and Nanashi takes off his Andata ÄRM, tossing it to Alviss and telling him to take Snow and flee. Alviss picks Snow up and carries her away as Nanashi makes one last stand against the masked man.

At the end of the anime, he and Galian rule Luberia together.

ÄRMs[]

Nanashi, as typical of Luberia chiefs, uses Lightning-based ÄRM. Nanashi's also very powerful, and his power level is comparable to that of a Knight within the Chess Pieces. His ÄRMs are:

  • Electric Eye: A ring Nature ÄRM which produces bolts of lightning that Nanashi fires at his enemies. Everytime Nanashi uses this ÄRM he sees a shadowy outline of Galian.
  • Griffin Lance: A ring Weapon ÄRM, a lance with griffin-headed tip.
  • Thousand Needles: Weapon ÄRM, a necklace that creates giant spikes from the ground to attack the user's enemies.
  • Gymnote: Guardian ÄRM, Passing from inside Caldea's vault into Nanashi's possession, summons a giant, pink, eyeless electric eel to crush and or electrocute Nanashi's enemies.
  • Aegis: An aspis etched with the carving of a white maiden, this Holy ÄRM lives up to its title of "god's shield", with the ability to most effectively guard its user from physical assaults, and refuel him with magic power.
  • Andata: Dimension ÄRM, transports Nanashi and all he wishes to any place that he has already been to, stored in its memory.
  • Crystal Balls: Dimension ÄRM. This ÄRM can show in real time events occurring in any place Nanashi wishes.

Additionally, Nanashi also knows how to hide his magical power and make it seem significantly shorter to lower the guard of his enemies.
