Ginta Toramizu (虎水ギンタ, Toramizu Ginta) is the main protagonist of MÄR (Märchen Awakens Romance). A young teenage boy from Tokyo, Japan, Ginta travels to the fairy tale world of MÄR Heaven where he becomes the leader of Team MÄR, a group formed to defend the world from the terror of the Chess Pieces.

Appearance[]

Ginta has apricot skin, Munsell blue eyes and long, spiky blonde hair that is generally tied into a ponytail. On Earth, he wears a school uniform that consists of dark-blue pants, a white button-up t-shirt, white sneakers, and glasses, which are discarded after arriving in MÄR Heaven due to his eyesight having vastly improved upon his arrival. His sleeping attire consists of sweatpants and a white t-shirt with the Jēran rune on the front.

After setting off from Jack's farm home, Ginta wears clothes that he was given by Jack's mother; these clothes consist of baggy khaki pants, cuffed at the ankles, with a thick leather belt that has a silver buckle, a tight dark-blue sleeveless shirt with black bands on his wrists and biceps. His shoes are white and blue boots with silver studs on them. After his first venture into the Gate of Training, Snow gives him a silver chain with a dog-tag around his neck, engraved with the emblem for Team MÄR.

Personality[]

A fun-loving, care-free boy with a ponytail who uses Babbo as his ÄRM. Ginta is a fourteen-year-old boy as a 2nd-year student in Japan. He has always had a daydreaming problem; falling asleep in class happens on a regular basis. Ginta's dreams are about a fantasy world in which he is the hero. On many occasions, he tells Koyuki, the only person who believes that his dreams are real, about the dreams and how one day he will go to the place he sees when he's asleep. Many of his classmates and teachers pick on him for sleeping in class and Ginta often ends up getting beat up or running around the school as punishment.

Ginta's mother doesn't like to hear of his dreams because of his father who disappeared about six years ago. He had the same dreams as well and she is worried that Ginta will leave her. She writes fairy tales, or märchen, for a living. She also playfully lectures Ginta for playing too many video games and slacking off at school. He harbors a secret crush on Koyuki. Ginta has a very loyal personality and fights to protect those who need help; he prefers to avoid killing if possible.

Relationships include his inferred crush on Snow and a constant tolerance with Dorothy.

History[]

Danna Reading To His Son

Danna reading his wife's book to his young son, Ginta.

Ginta Toramizu was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. His mother, who also dreamt of fairy tale worlds since she was young, is a fantasy author of such titles as Dancing Fairy, and his father often read these stories to him.

As a little boy, Ginta became close friends with two girls: Koyuki and Kotomi. The trio often played hide-and-seek in the neighborhood. One day, while Ginta was "it" for hide-and-seek, Kotomi collapsed in the street where she hid and and a passerby called for an ambulance to take her to the hospital. Ginta, who had already found Koyuki, was determined to find Kotomi at the hospital, but ended up getting lost. Koyuki convinced Ginta to give up for the day and to go home. That evening, Kotomi passed away. After the funeral, Ginta confessed to Koyuki his guilt about how him not being able to find Kotomi resulted in her death. To cope with the pain, Ginta suppressed his memories of Kotomi deep into his subconscious.

Yummy Popsicles

Ginta and Koyuki continued to grow up together and shared many activities as best friends. One day, when Ginta was eight years old, his father vanished without a trace. Ginta and his mother were deeply scarred by Danna's disappearance, but his friendship with Koyuki enabled Ginta to cope with the loss better than his mother.

In elementary school, Ginta indulged in building plastic model kits from the anime Fighter Robot. One model he took extra effort into assembling and took it to school the next day. However, on the way to school, the toughest kid in class broke it. Upset, Ginta lunged at him but the bully easily knocked him back and began punching Ginta. Suddenly Koyuki smacked the bully from behind with a broom and chased him away. Koyuki then turned to Ginta and told him to remake the model, reasoning that if he were to give up just because the model was ruined then he'd be admitting complete defeat to the bully who broke it. Ginta did what she told him, and ended up feeling better about it.

Upon graduation day from elementary school, they buried a time capsule on the school grounds, containing two letters for their future selves to read when they turn 20 years old. One letter from young Koyuki to 20-year-old Ginta, and the other from young Ginta to 20-year-old Koyuki.

Their bond remained strong in middle school, and in one of her home-ed classes Koyuki made a special cake for Ginta. She named the cake as Poseidon, King of the Ocean Serenade, and pointed out that the trident was the fork to eat it with. Ginta happily took a bite, but gagged at the taste because she put in chunks of squid, shrimp, and clam in order to make it real seafood. Koyuki wiped off a bit of pink frosting from Ginta's face to lick from her finger and gave a V sign, saying she'd do better next time. Two other female classmates who watched criticized Koyuki's friendship with a person like Ginta. In response, Ginta offered the cake to them and they backed away in fear. Koyuki smiled and stated that only she would understand because she knows so many of Ginta's good traits.

Ginta telling Koyuki his Dreams

Ginta tells Koyuki about his dreams every day after school.

These good traits often were overshadowed in the eyes of others by his weak physique, terrible eyesight, mediocre grades, and heavy indulgence in playing video games. But Koyuki loved his passion and imagination, and listened to Ginta whenever he told her about his fairy tale like dreams. Ginta finally set a record for having the same kind of fairy tale dream 102 times in a row, the most recent having occurred in the middle of class. Their homeroom teacher, Mr. Yazawa, yelled at Ginta to run laps outside as punishment, but upon failure to do so was mocked by his classmates. Koyuki attempted to stand up for him, but Ginta's hot-headedness caused him to chase his classmates around the room, before losing all stamina and getting laughed at again.

While walking home from school that day, Koyuki asks Ginta questions on in-depth details about his dreams. While listing every detail, he states that if such a dreamland really does exist then he would like to go there, even if only once. Koyuki expressed certainty that his dream would come true, and Ginta was touched that she was the only person who ever listened to him without laughing. Koyuki reasoned that existence of things like ghosts and UFOs were also possible so why not a dreamland. She then hands Ginta a bar of milk chocolate and runs off to her house, telling him to eat it and become stronger for the sake of that other world.

Ginta-Mama 8

Mrs. Toramizu dismissing her son's recurring dreams.

That night, his mother dismissed the possibility of a fairy tale world existing and that Ginta's recurring dreams had any meaning. While handing him rice for dinner, she informed her son that his teacher called earlier and lectured Ginta for sleeping in class. Ginta pointed out that she writes fairy tales for a living as an argument, but she aggravatingly shouted back that her profession doesn't reflect her actual beliefs, and that she works hard to provide for him. Ginta threatened to rebel but she told him to toughen up before dropping out of school.

After midnight, Ginta finished playing his video games and stared up at the ceiling, looking forward to sleeping more than his games. Thinking about his future, he dreaded growing up if it meant eventually forgetting about his dreams. Ginta picked up the chocolate bar Koyuki gave him and warmly thought of her being the one person who believes in him. Suddenly, Ginta sees a brief prophetic vision of a mysterious person speaking of how a connection would be made soon. Despite only lasting for a moment, he became startled enough to jolt up and break out in a cold sweat.

The next day, as Ginta lightly dozes off at his desk while waiting for class to start, a few of his classmates tease him again about his daydreaming when Koyuki approaches and asks about his dream again. Ginta happily stands up, but before he can say anything, the room blacks out and a strange magic circle glowed on the floor beneath their feet. A supernatural being, cloaked in red with chains, crosses for eyes, and an exposed tongue materialized in the darkness, bringing forth a physical doorway from the magic circle. While other students shrieked and fled the room in panic, Koyuki collapsed to the floor in shock as she gazed at the door. Ginta picked her up and held her in his arms, exhilarated that his dreams were true and his chance has finally come to travel to the world of fairy tales that he longed for.

Invitation of the Gatekeeper Clown

Ginta enters through the doorway to the world of fairy tales.

The gatekeeper casts a die which lands on "1", thus only one person could pass through the gate. The gatekeeper then speaks to Ginta, acknowledging that because he could see the vision beyond the closed gate that he was to be invited through, as his desire to either leave his current world or belief in the existence of another enabled him to see the vision and the door appeared for him. While their classmates are yelling for them to flee, Koyuki asks the gatekeeper if she could enter as well, but the gatekeeper warned her that more individuals attempting than what the die allows for could be dangerous. Concerned for her safety, Ginta carries Koyuki to the door of the classroom and sets her out into the hallway with the other students, insisting that he'll go alone. His classmates frantically try to get him back, but a barrier prevents them from physically running in to stop him. Ginta laughs that he could be dreaming at the moment, but if he doesn't take the chance before him now, he may never get another chance.

Koyuki, pouting that it wasn't fair that only Ginta would get to go, quickly changed her attitude and asked Ginta to promise he would return one day with stories of his adventures. Ginta gave a thumbs up to Koyuki and approached the gate. Pushing against it with his hand, the door responded and opened on its own. With readiness and excitement, Ginta runs through the portal, the door closing behind him and disappearing, along with its gatekeeper.

Arrival in MÄR Heaven[]

Upon arrival Ginta is quick to enjoy the fantasy world as he lays in the grassy field that he landed on, enjoying the wind that blew across him. He sits up but finds the scenery to be blurry. Thinking his glasses were fogged up, he uses his shirt to remove any condensation on them, but upon glancing back up at the land, he drops his glasses in shock, realizing his eyesight naturally corrected itself. With the realization that he wasn't dreaming settling in, he immediately jumps up to run about with ecstasy. Ginta stops after a few minutes, noticing that his stamina had improved as well, before turning his attention to a noise behind him. A strange, flimsy suit of armor appeared and charged at him. Ginta grabs the suit's torso and, with a bit of effort, sends the armor flying back. Utterly shocked by his apparent strength, he hears clapping and looks up on a rock pillar to see a pretty witch applauding him.

Ginta Meets Dorothy

Ginta meets Dorothy the Witch.

The girl jumps down to introduce herself as Dorothy and reverts the suit of armor into a ring that flies back to her. Dorothy praises Ginta's strength against the suit of armor despite it being the weakest Guardian ÄRM she owns. Ginta immediately grabs her by the arms and asked what she just did and to do it again. Confused, Dorothy told him about ÄRMs, then quickly realized that Ginta had none. Dorothy comes up with an idea to use Ginta's unusual strength to her benefit, offering her Weapon ÄRM, Ring Dagger, as a reward.

The duo arrive at a nearby sealed-off cave and Ginta is quick to rush in and punch a large opening in the rock wall with his fist. Enthusiastic about his physical performance having vastly improved, he darts in with Dorothy close behind. Part of the floor Ginta steps on collapses into a hole in which he falls into. She helps him get out but asks him if he was just going to be burdensome and suggests that he leaves. Ginta quickly assures her that he wouldn't fall again, as his excitement from being in another world was so overwhelming that he was distracted from paying attention to his surroundings. Dorothy asks him to clarify, and Ginta responds that he's from Tokyo. Suspicious about if it were true, the two casually walk through the tunnels and she tells him more about ÄRMs. She denies letting Ginta have the ÄRM that they're retrieving, saying she already promised him the Ring Dagger. He complains that she was being stingy and asks what she was going to do after she's done collecting. Dorothy turns to him and ominously replies that it's a secret, giving Ginta chills.

The two finally reach the last room and Ginta attempts to run to the treasure chest ahead, but Dorothy stops him from running into danger. The jewel embedded into the side of the stone table that upheld the chest begins to glow, summoning the Guardian ÄRM, Rock Giant Golem. Ginta confidently punches it but rolls on the ground in pain, failing to damage it. Dorothy counterattacks by summoning her Guardian ÄRM, Flying Leo. Ginta watches the in awe, enamored by the power of ÄRMs, before realizing the ÄRM in the chest must be even more amazing. He dashes past the two Guardians and jumps onto the stone table. Excited to see what kind of ÄRM it is, Ginta opens the chest, utterly shocked that it's alive, sleeping and has facial hair. The ÄRM's snot bubble pops and he awakens, surprised to see a dumbfounded boy staring at him from above. He then looks around, asking himself where he was, how long he had been sleeping, etc. but not being able to remember anything. Ginta stands straight up and raises his hand, calling to Dorothy to ask a question. Dorothy, whose attention had been focused on directing Flying Leo on the fight, hollered back to hear Ginta's question. Ginta asks if ÄRMs could talk, and Dorothy irritably retorts that ÄRMs like the Guardian type can only speak if they're activated and any ÄRM that could speak on its own would be creepy. Insulted, the ÄRM jumps out of the chest to yell back at her, demanding an apology from Dorothy, who is horrified at the talking ÄRM. Ginta asks who he was, and the ÄRM replied that his name was Babbo, his name being his only remaining memory.

Ginta gazes at Babbo at his feet, recalling that Dorothy said it was the rarest among rare ÄRMs, and becomes disappointed. Babbo finds the staring to be disrespectful, but Ginta then recognizes Babbo's ÄRM design. He happily picks Babbo up and exclaims that he must be a kendama ÄRM. Babbo stubbornly refuses to leave with them, causing the battle between Rock Giant Golem and Flying Leo to drag out and cause the latter to be destroyed. The Guardian then grabs Dorothy in its hand and makes its way towards Ginta. Ginta grabs Babbo by the mustache and hurls him at the golem, which lets go of Dorothy as it falls back. Ginta leaps up and thrusts the enlarged hammer down on the Guardian's head, knocking it out and defeating it. Dorothy smiles at his innocent squealing of excitement before deactivating Rock Giant Golem to its accessory form to take for herself.

Outside the cave, Babbo and Dorothy bicker over the matter of being her ÄRM as she lifts him up to yell at him, only to immediately drop him due to his weight. Stunned that Ginta was able to throw something so heavy, she realized that she wouldn't be able to take Babbo and offers him to Ginta, warning him that having such a rare ÄRM would attract bandits and thieves. Dorothy kisses Ginta on the cheek and flies away on her broom.

Realizing he should've asked Dorothy for information about the world, Ginta turns to Babbo to inquire, only to find him bouncing away in delight to seek solitude. Ginta catches him and Babbo scolds the boy for hastily touching him. Babbo then notices that Ginta had a foreign, otherworldly scent. Ginta confirms his suspicious when he introduces himself, though Babbo is unsure of what to make of Ginta's claim.

The duo continue wandering through the wilderness and squabble. They are then met by another travelling duo, Mock and Chap, who take interest in a talking ÄRM. Mock proposes a compromise to allow Babbo to temporarily go with him and Chap instead of Ginta, and they both agree.

Teamwork

Ginta and Babbo become partners.

Ginta lounges around in the woods feeling lonely for a while when he hears a group of monkeys in the trees gossiping about the bandits that he encountered and took Babbo. Ginta realizes what the bandits might do to Babbo and runs to catch up to them to take Babbo back. Mock attempts to stop Ginta by summoning his Guardian ÄRM, Iron Ball, to attack but Ginta is able to stop the round Guardian in its tracks and lift it up and toss back at Mock. Babbo leaps to his rescuer and teams up to send Mock flying with Chap chasing after him.

That evening, Ginta and Babbo apologize to each other for their earlier attitudes and resolve to be partners while seeking out their own personal quests. Though, the thought of being Babbo's "escort" irks Ginta and the two resume quarrelling before rolling off a cliff. Their stomachs growl, and they realize they had both gone sometime without food.

Ginta and Babbo wander around until they stumble upon a small field of vegetables. They begin chowing down, attracting the attention of the inhabitants inside the farm house on the hill. A boy named Jack bursts open the front door and yells at them, only to be shocked that the thieves aren't whom he thought they were. Jack and his mother invite the two into their home as a show of hospitality, and offer many of their homegrown vegetables. Ginta and Babbo introduce themselves, and Jack is dumbfounded at Ginta's claim of coming from a parallel world while creeped out that Babbo is a living ÄRM. Suddenly they hear howling from a distance, and Jack informs Ginta about the Rogelu Brothers, which fascinates him. Jack angrily replies that there's nothing "cool" about them, and Ginta realized his insensitivity as Jack spoke more about them. His mother voiced passiveness about the situation, as there was nothing that could really be done and she wouldn't be able to replace her son like they could the crops. Frustrated with his own powerlessness, Jack runs outside to cool off.

While Jack works in the fields the next day, Ginta offers to handle the werewolves for Jack, but he declines with the intent of overcoming his own cowardice. Ginta tries to argue but Babbo interjects, voicing support for Jack's reasoning. At sunset, Ginta comes up with an idea to assist Jack, knowing that he would still need help. Babbo protests against the idea of Ginta painting his body, but he convinces him to see it like fashion, as gentlemen must consider their appearance. Babbo caved in and allowed him to paint his body. Then Babbo would hide in the field and Ginta would pretend to be asleep in bed, waiting for the moment to join in the upcoming fight.

Jack struggles as he's only barely able to handle one of the werewolves, Garu. Ruga walks over and reminds his brother not to kill Jack, before tossing in another vegetable into his mouth. However, Ruga's teeth break upon biting down, revealing that Babbo had been in the field the entire time disguised as one of the vegetables. Babbo angrily lunges forward into Ruga's gut, and compliments Jack on his manly bravery. Ginta yells out to announce his presence on the rooftop of the house, before slipping and falling off. Ginta tells Jack that he and Babbo had planned to assist since sundown, and reasoned that if there's two werewolves then there should be two of them as well to make it even. Ruga gets up and Ginta demands that they apologize to Jack and permanently leave. The brothers refuse, prompting Ginta to take them on. Ginta throws Babbo at Ruga and pushes him back once more, before swinging Babbo's enlarged hammer down on Garu. Jack watches in awe as Garu frustratingly swings his claws repeatedly at Ginta, who dodges each swipe with ease. Ginta declares that the two brothers are the real cowards, before dealing one last blow to Garu. Ruga attempts to make a surprise attack on Ginta, but is hit in the face by Jack's Battle Scoop, knocking him out as well. Jack realizes that his legs were no longer shaking from fear, and gained confidence in acknowledgement that he (with Ginta and Babbo) defeated the Rogelu Brothers. Babbo then proceeds to knock out their remaining fangs and claws and chases them away from the farm. Dawn approaches, and Jack thanks Ginta, when suddenly his mother runs out to him and slaps him across the face. He watches her scolding him over his recklessness before embracing in happy tears, grateful that he was safe.

New Adventure

Jack joins Ginta and Babbo on their adventure.

After another full day of rest and decompressing, Jack comes outside to tell Ginta and Babbo that lunch was ready. Ginta, who was in deep thought his own mother, asked Jack what the name of this world was. Jack tells him its name is MÄR Heaven, which helped him comprehend that Ginta was indeed from a parallel world and proceeded to ask Ginta many questions about his home and how he came to MÄR Heaven. Jack concludes that Ginta must've come through the door of a very powerful Dimension ÄRM. Ginta spoke of his intent to go on a journey to search for a way back home, and Babbo declares Ginta to be his escort in his own personal quest for his lost memories. They comically fight each other, and Jack comments that going on a journey sounded nice but felt tied down to the farm and his mother. After lunch, Jack's mother gives Ginta a new set of clothes to wear and tells him to take Jack with him on the journey. She assures Jack that she'll be fine while he's away, and desires that he help Ginta just like he helped them. With his mother's support, Jack sets off with Ginta and Babbo.

The first two days of the journey they discuss Babbo's uniqueness and Jack's dream of growing a beanstalk that would grow high into the sky one day. They then arrive in Pazu Town with the intent of going window shopping for Dimension ÄRMs that could potentially take Ginta home. They visit three different vendors, the third recognizing Ginta's description as the Gatekeeper Clown. She tells the boys that such a power ÄRM wouldn't be lying around in a shop to be sold, thus they leave with Ginta feeling lucky to have a fun challenge of acquiring it.

Suddenly the boys are ambushed by several bandits who steal Babbo. They lose track of the bandits after making a quick get-away, but are directed by a fairy to the bandits' location. They catch up, and Ginta physical beats up two of the bandits. The third, revealing himself as the ringleader, introduces himself as Stanley, and activates his Weapon ÄRM, Necklace Blade. Ginta points out that using a weapon against an unarmed opponent was unfair and reasoned to have Babbo back to fight equally. Stanley doesn't fall for the trick, but immediately finds himself having to defend against Jack who activated his Battle Scoop and attacked. Ginta runs over to grab Babbo, and Stanley attempts to stop him, only to find himself unable to move. Ginta manages to retrieve Babbo from Stanley's bag and send him flying.

Just as they were about to celebrate, a mysterious older boy named Alviss appears. Ginta recognizes his voice as the dark figure whom he saw and heard in his vision the night before he journeyed to MÄR Heaven. Observing that Babbo's seal was undone, Alviss activates his Darkness ÄRM, Caged Bird, to turn Jack into a bird locked up in cage so he could speak with Ginta one-on-one. Belle, Alviss' fairy partner, flies over to mock Jack. Alviss formally introduces himself and confirms Ginta's suspicions that he was responsible for summoning the latter to this world. Ginta cheerfully thanks him before switching to anger for turning Jack into a bird in a cage, demanding that he be turned back. Alviss glances at Babbo intensely, thinking his "gamble failed", and proceeds to activate his Guardian ÄRM, 13 Totem Pole. A gigantic totem pole emerges from the ground beneath Ginta and Babbo and they are raised into the air. Alviss chastises Ginta for having unsealed Babbo without understanding what he is. Ginta defensively yells back and Alviss snaps his fingers to lower the totem pole back into the ground.

Alviss looks down on Ginta

Ginta meets Alviss.

Ginta goes on the offensive, thrusting Babbo at him, but Alviss merely leaps into the air to dodge and lands right in front of Ginta. He comments that Ginta was lucky that he managed to fight off the number of bandits he had with his low skill level, saying that the most recent one would've been dangerous without his help. Alviss belittles Ginta's inexperience further, observing that if he had difficulty fighting bandits then he will easily be killed by the Chess Pieces. He immediately kicks Ginta in the gut and sends him back to the ground. Alviss then explains the recent history of MÄR Heaven, and how the Chess Pieces waged war against the world. Alviss punches Ginta, and states that the reason he summoned him was to enlist him as a soldier to annihilate the Chess Pieces, once and for all.

Annoyed and confused, Ginta questions his antics. Alviss expresses disappointment that the one he ended up summoning to his world was a child, when he was hoping for someone of greater power like the commander of the Cross Guard, who also came from Earth. Alviss reasons that he must nonetheless train and educate Ginta into a soldier in order to fight. He then demands that Ginta hand over Babbo, explaining that Babbo was previously owned by the leader of the Chess Pieces, Phantom, and therefore must be destroyed. Horrified, Babbo denies that he could kill countless lives in the previous war and Ginta sticks his tongue out at Alviss in defiance.

He concludes that the two need to be punished more severely, and resummons 13 Totem Pole. Ginta leaps in between each pole to smash Alviss with his enlarged hammer. He jumps out of the way, but Ginta manages to headbutt him in the forehead. Babbo accidentally hits Ginta's head from behind, and laughs while apologizing. The two resume bickering, and Alviss accepts that Babbo may have lost his memory, but still views him as a threat that could be reclaimed by Phantom. Confused, Ginta points out that Alviss had already mentioned Phantom was fell in the last war, but Alviss further explains that Phantom can't truly be killed because he was undead and will soon revive.

13 Totem Pole sprouts from the ground once more, but the segments of each pole topple over onto Ginta and land a direct hit. His body bruised and banged up, Ginta stubbornly refuses to give Babbo up, promising to protect him from Phantom and begs Alviss not to hurt Babbo as he falls to the ground, barely retaining consciousness. Babbo threatens Alviss to stop him from harming Ginta any further. Bewildered, Alviss decides temporarily accept Ginta's plea by telling him to become stronger. He then leaves with Belle.

By dawn, Jack is turned back to normal, and Ginta realizes that Alviss spared Babbo not because he trusts him but rather to test him. Ginta resolves meet his expectations to become stronger. The trio spends three days napping under a nearby tree to recover from physical fatigue. On the morning of the third day, Ginta wakes up first and upon standing the chocolate bar that Koyuki gave him falls out of his pocket. With both Koyuki and Alviss having told him to become stronger, Ginta becomes motivated more than ever to do so, waking his companions up to do rigorous exercising. Jack and Babbo get rather worn out, but Ginta decides to go for another run. He soon runs right back to his friends to inform them that he found an unconscious doggy on the road.

All three of them rush to the scene, and Babbo humorously mocks the dog for "being so ugly". The dog awakens, and introduces himself as Edward, before panicking that he should be wasting time now that he had successfully fallen asleep twice and attempts to go back to sleep a third time, only to fail. Edward then laments on how his poor princess's life was in danger.

Hearing the word "princess" piques Ginta's interest and offers to hear his woes. Edward takes notice to the ÄRMs that Ginta and Jack possessed while stating he was from another world. Edward kneels to them, asking for assistance, and guides them to a nearby castle that was covered in ice. He explains that the princess has sealed herself in this castle to stall the pursuers, and tells of his princess's backstory. Ginta and Jack arm themselves and assure Edward that they would save the princess.

While making their way deep within the castle, Edward and Babbo both pick up the scent of someone close by. A figure from the shadows puts a dagger to Ginta's neck, revealing Dorothy who then realizes it's Ginta and the two delightfully reunite. After explaining what brought them to the castle, Dorothy emphasizes the urgency to rescue the girl, as even a well-trained magician's heart could easily stop within half a day. The group makes haste, parting with Dorothy again and rushing to the room where the princess was located in.

The moment Ginta stepped into the room and glanced upon the ice, he panicked to see Koyuki encased in it. Two individuals, a young masked man and a girl appear before them, but with Ginta's focus strictly on Koyuki, he fails to notice the duo who kick him back upon trying to run to her. Edward tells him to calm down and insists that her name was not Koyuki, which grabs Ginta's attention. Edward introduces her as Snow, the crown princess of the kingdom of Lestava. Ginta exhales a sigh of relief that Koyuki was still safely in Earth as his resolve strengthened to rescue Princess Snow.

The young man removes his mask and challenges Ginta to a duel while his associate Loco stands by and watches. Ginta accepts, charging forward with Babbo in tow as he announces his affiliation as a middle school student. The young man introduces himself as Ian, a member of the Chess Pieces, before immediately knocking Ginta back.

First Kiss

Ginta saves Snow and accidentally kisses her.

After Edward was knocked unconscious and switched places with Alan, Ginta thawed the ice when Alan lent him the ÄRM of Flame. Awakening from the melted ice, the princess's eyes locked onto Ginta's as she fell on him and they accidentally kissed. Ginta immediately got back up, overwhelmed with mixed emotions, while Snow looked around and happily greeted Alan (whom she also referred to as "Ed") and thanked him for saving her. Alan corrected her that Ginta was the one who deserves the credit. She glanced back upon Ginta, who was lying on the ground again from utter shock and she remembered the kiss they shared moments prior.

Halloween then arrives and informs Loco and Ian that the mission to capture Babbo and Princess Snow has been aborted, as the Chess Pieces were called to assemble at Lestava Castle for the Second MÄR Heaven War. As Halloween laughs at Ginta being responsible for breaking Ian's arm, Jack yells out that Ginta is a human from a parallel world. Snow happily introduces herself to him after the Chess leave, and Ginta notes on how similar she was to Koyuki, down to the slightest of gestures and mannerisms.

Ginta falls over in shock once more thinking about the kiss, wondering if it would be considered "cheating" despite his claim that he isn't dating Koyuki. Panicked, Snow hops over to Alan and asks him about the kiss since it was also her first time. Alan jokes that she should give him more as the two children blush over the incident.

With the ice melted, the castle returns to its former state and the group exits outside. The kids properly re-introduce themselves to each other and Alan leads them to their next destination of Pelica Port. Along the way, Jack makes small talk with Snow about how he met Ginta and Babbo, referring to them as 'vegetable thieves', and stating he was travelling with them for the purposes of training. The group takes a quick break at stream and Ginta asks Snow what she would've done if the old man hadn't come back to save her. Snow responds that she just had faith in Ed, before being called back by Alan to continue walking.

Arriving in Pelica Port, they visit a local pub for lunch and Alan questions Ginta on his knowledge of their world and current situation. Snow asks Alan if she could go outside to play with Babbo, and he grants permission so long as she was still within his line of sight through the window. Alan then teaches Ginta and Jack the basics about the world of MÄR Heaven with a map. As Snow and Babbo head back inside the pub, Alan declares that Ginta, Babbo, and Jack would be joining their party, suggesting that training was in order.

Alan leads them to the woods outside of town to find a suitable location for training. Before explaining what magic power was, he exerted some of his against a pillar, revealing Dorothy who had been secretly following them since they left the frozen castle. Dorothy immediately flew up to Alan to threaten him if he were to do anything "funny" to Ginta. Snow intervenes to stop a potential fight from starting, desiring peace with Ginta's witchy friend. Dorothy takes notice of Snow's Nature ÄRM at her hip, and sensed that she was a "potential rival" for Ginta's affection. The group parts with Dorothy as they continue deeper in the woods.

Alan finally decides on a spot and continues to explain what magic power is. He gives Ginta three magic stones and calls out to Dorothy, who had still been following them, to come join them. Alan then activates his Dimension ÄRM, Gate of Training, and summons two doors on the ground. Snow, who had been expecting the use of this ÄRM, was the only one who did not scream as she, Ginta, and Babbo fell in one gate while Dorothy and Jack fell in the other.

Upon landing, Snow explains to Ginta that she's visited the Gate of Training several times before. She shows off her Guardian ÄRM, Snowman, whom she refers to as "Yuki-chan", then gives Ginta and Babbo a lesson on ÄRMs. While discussing the types, Snow states that she wants to find a Holy ÄRM that can dispel the curse on Ed and Alan. Ginta motivates her to get stronger with him so they can acquire a Holy ÄRM from the Chess to do so.

Babbo begins to glow and in a trance gives automated instructions to Ginta on how to use the magic stones that he had inserted into the hammer. As Ginta brainstorms on the first ability, he settles on what he refers to as Babbo, Version 1: Hammer Arm. Snow expresses some doubt, finding it to be a little too simplistic, but Ginta argues that it's practical for combat.

Suddenly, four Guardians called Stone Golem appear. Snow tells Ginta that they run loose in the area and that the first trial is real combat. Snow steps forward and demonstrates to Ginta by summoning multiple Yuki-chan to smash each of the Stone Golems. More Stone Golems appear, and Ginta tests out Babbo's new form by smashing the reinforcements. Snow takes notice to Ginta's newfound magic power level steadily rising from previously being zero.

A chain ÄRM floats over to them and activates, summoning the Guardian ÄRM, Merilo, who curtsies while greeting Ginta. Snow explains that Merilo will be their training guide as she guides them to the nearby temple which houses a large tablet known as the Unbreakable Gate. Merilo instructs Ginta that the second trial is synchronizing with his ÄRM, challenging him to destroy the Unbreakable Gate rather than breaking it.

Second Great MÄR Heaven War[]

During the three days they are training, the Chess Pieces begin to take action and take over a large chunk of MÄR Heaven. Once the four get out, they have a small battle with Ian and Gido, where in a show of their new strength none of them receive any harm. Once the battle in finished, the five of them together form Team MÄR.

Departing from Pazurika Island, they head for the Hild Continent, with Dorothy riding her broom and the others on Edward's Dimension ÄRM, Magic Carpet. Edward gossips to Ginta about Dorothy's notoriety and how rare it is for a witch to be seen outside of her homeland, Caldea. Dorothy calls out to Edward to question him, and he covers himself by telling her he was complimenting her beauty, which delighted her and fueled her vanity.

As Team MÄR crosses over the northern shores of the Hild Continent, they are attacked from the ground by Luberians led by Chief Nanashi, believing them to be Chess Pieces, though he later realizes his mistake after Ginta chews him out. Nanashi is quick to befriend Team MÄR, once he becomes excitable at the sight of Snow and a glimpse of Dorothy's exposed legs. He squeals over the two cute girls, voicing his desire to escort them rather than steal from them, before being pulled away by his followers to calm down. Once he is settled, he properly introduces himself and fellow bandits, and invites Team MÄR to tag along with them back to their fortress. Ginta asks for Snow's input, and then accepts. Nanashi uses his Dimension ÄRM, Andata, to warp everyone back to Luberia Fortress.

Nanashi leads Team MÄR into the shambled first main hall and listens to their story. He reveals to them the state of the world. Nanashi also leads them to the cemetery behind the fortress, the graves of which commemorate those massacred by Peta. A bandit comes to inform Nanashi that the town of Vestry was under siege by the Chess. Nanashi then decides to join Team MÄR as the sixth member, and takes them to Vestry, where two Chess Pieces are causing another massacre. The surviving villagers inform them that the two Chess Pieces who attacked them were still there, delving into Vestry's littoral cave that contains an underground lake. Ginta, Babbo, Dorothy, and Nanashi volunteer to go after them while Jack, Snow, and Edward stay in the village to help.

After splitting up in the cave, Ginta eventually meets Tom, and they quickly become friends. Ginta and Tom later find one of the two Chess Pieces, Girom, and defeats Girom using his newly found power, Babbo Version 3: Gargoyle.

Team MÄR spent a couple more days in Vestry. During this time, she also refereed the contest between Ginta and John Peach. On their last evening there, the village headman thanked the entire team by individual name. Ginta notices Dorothy getting up to go for a walk alone.

Ginta approaches Dorothy, who was sitting at a well and gazing at the moon. He asked her if she was unhappy, and responds with a joke about him giving her the strange key ÄRM he received in the lake would make her happy. Ginta then asks what her objective was traveling abroad from her homeland of Caldea. Dorothy hesitates to answer, but then tells him that she is collecting ÄRMs and searching for a "certain woman" so that she may kill her. Horrified, Ginta immediately assumes it to be a joke and responds accordingly to break the tension, but Dorothy's lack of response causes him to realize she was being serious. Suddenly, an intoxicated Snow kicks Ginta from behind, complaining that she was bored because he was busy talking to Dorothy instead.

MÄR then heads to Reginleif Castle to help fight in the War Games.

War Games[]

With Peta's announcement of the second War Games to be held at Reginleif Castle, Ginta and his friends arrive where some members of the Cross Guard were already waiting shortly before noon on the first day. Among them were Alviss and Gaira, the third-in-command of the Cross Guard. Ginta greets Alviss, who instantly notices drastic increase of magic power from him when it had previously been nothing.

The noon bell tolls, and the princess of Reginleif steps out onto her balcony to oversee the beginning of the War Games. A table with magic stones manifests, and she explains that those who wish to enter must take a stone to participate in a preliminary round first. Alviss, Gaira, and many of the Cross Guard take a stone, as do Ginta and his friends. The test pits each contender in a one-on-one battle with a Pawn, and only by defeating the Pawn can the warrior advance to the real War Games. Ginta, his friends, and Alviss pass this test with ease, but he becomes alarmed when none of the other Cross Guard, including Gaira, don't return right away.

A strange reptilian dwarf appears, introducing himself as Pozun, the referee of the War Games, and observes that this year's Cross Guard wasn't any good for losing to a bunch of Pawns. Alviss demands to know about Gaira, who wouldn't lose to a single low ranking Chess Piece. Pozun chuckles, saying it wasn't only Pawns, as one magic stone linked to the fourth Knight, Chimera, and Gaira was unlucky enough to pick up said stone. Gaira is warped back, heavily injured from the battle. While Snow heals him, Pozun commends Gaira for surviving his battle against Chimera despite still losing and thus being disqualified from the competition. Pozun expresses disappointment in the results compared to the previous war, as this time it was only six teenagers. Nevertheless, he informs them that the War Games would officially start tomorrow and leaves with Chimera.

That night the princess of Reginleif gave them room and board in her castle. Alviss observed Ginta and Babbo casually working up due to being so motivated, and calls his name while stepping forward. He then tells Ginta that he'll be determining whether he can trust him through battle in the War Games. Snow and Edward both realize that Alviss is the seventh member of their team that they've been looking for, despite him still being registered purely as a Cross Guard soldier.

Round 1[]

After hearing the rules of the War Games from Pozun, Ginta is chosen as the captain for Team MÄR and they begin the first round of the War Games.

Ginta faces off against Garon in the third match. Garon comments he pities Ginta, he only has a team of six people and that a mere child is captain of the team. On top of it Ginta's first opponent is him. This doesn't deter Ginta as he activates the first of the magic stones equipped to Babbo revealing the ability Babbo Version 1: Hammer ARM. Ginta charges in and strikes him repeatedly on Garon's body and head with absolutely no effect. Garon hits Ginta with a single punch that sends him flying across the ring and reveals the ÄRM he's using. Five body hardening Nature ÄRM on one hand and five Strength enhancing ÄRM on the other hand. Alviss comments that the ability to use ten ÄRMs at once would make Garon higher than a bishop in the Chess ranks. Ginta then reveals the next form he's given Babbo, Version 2 Bubble Launcher and fires several Babbo shaped bubbles at him. They all impact Garon and explode on contact. Garon is surround by flames but only scraped up at the most from the attack. He then closes the distance between him and Ginta and delivers a punch that lands Ginta flat.

Gargoyle's War Game Debut

Gargoyle pummels Garon into the ground.

Garon declares that the War Games are over already and Phantom never even had to show himself. But Ginta stands ready not ready to give up yet Ginta begins to concentrate and focus his magical power to use Babbo Version 3: Gargoyle. Everyone is astounded at Ginta wielding such a powerful creature. Gargoyle launched a punch but Garon blocks it and seems to old his own as the ring cracks beneath his feet. Ginta states that he'll never forgive the Chess who take delight in kill countless people and puts all of his power into Gargoyle.

Despite Garon's effort he is defeated by the guardian as all ten of his ÄRMs crack and shatter. Before Gargoyle delivers a finishing blow, Pano leaps onto the arena and puts herself in between the two, begging Ginta to spare their father's life as they were satisfied with him losing the match. Leno joins his family on the arena, helping his father stand. Ginta accepts the surrender, and Pozun declares Ginta as the winner. As he watches the Rodkin Family walk off-stage, Ginta feels nostalgic for his own father.

Aftermath[]
My Father's Fate

Ginta realizes his father was killed by Phantom.

During the night after the first fight Ginta comes to accept that his father was Danna, the previous person from his world to be sent to MÄR Heaven and the hero of the last War Games, and that he died fighting Phantom. Jack helps Ginta overcome this brief bought of depression by talking about his own father and they agree to avenge their dads. Gaira having overhead them takes them into the training gate to go stronger instead of competing in the 2nd round.

Round 2[]

After the end of the 2nd round Ginta, Babbo and Jack return from their training having grown stronger along with giving Babbo his 4th form. After deciding on the conditions for the next match Team MÄR along with the spectators celebrate their win outside. Ginta reveals his parentage to everyone to help inspire hope against the Chess, chugging a whole glass of Pupura Juice.

Later that night, he wakes up from the sound of Tom's voice calling out to him.

Round 3[]
Ginta and Snow

Ginta and Snow bonding after her loss to Mr. Hook.

On the next day Ginta along with the rest of the members competing in the fight, which include a newly awakened Alan who was allowed to compete by Phantom, are transported to their Volcanic battlefield to begin the next round. Ginta watched as Snow struggled against her opponent, Mr. Hook, as the overwhelming heat from the volcanic environment put her at a severe disadvantage. Mr. Hook accepted Alviss' forfeit on Snow's behalf and Ginta ran to her side to check on her wellbeing. Snow apologized to Ginta for her fatigue, attempting to show pride in that she didn't give up. Ginta realized she forced herself to follow his reckless advice from the night before the War Games began. Alan reminds Ginta that as strong-willed as Snow is, she's still only fourteen years old. Once Pozun declares Mr. Hook the winner, Ginta helps Snow up and carries her back with her arm over his shoulder. Feeling ashamed, Snow asks Ginta if she was a burden to the team. To assure her otherwise, Ginta immediate lifts her onto his back to piggy back carry her, insisting she was no trouble at all. He then asks her to promise that not overdo it anymore if she's unable to win.

Alviss tells Ginta to go up against Kannochi, as due to his position as captain he can't afford to lose to a Knight when he doesn't have enough battle experience.

As the fight begins Kannochi comments that Ginta did well to defeat Garon. He then activates his Darkness ÄRM, Body Candle. Ginta seeing an Darkness ÄRM has curiously checks out his body to see what the curse has done before asking Kannochi. He takes off his top hat to reveal a burning candle and tells Ginta he's has been cursed, as when the candle melts to nothing so will Ginta. At this news Ginta and his team members panic and Alviss tells Ginta that it's all true and to destroy the ring ÄRM. Before anyone can act Kannochi swallows his ring.

Ginta quickly uses Babbo, Version 1: Hammer Arm, in an attempt to break the ring inside of Kannochi. However he uses his Nature ÄRM, Dragon Rod, to defend himself from Ginta's attacks. He acknowledges how fast Ginta's speed and incredible strength are, getting struck in the stomach, but the ring doesn't fly out. Nonetheless, Kannochi changes tactics and uses the flame that belches from his cane to speed up the melting of the candle on his head, thus shortening the time Ginta has left.

Ginta ask Kannochi why he's in the Chess and if he enjoys killing people. Kannochi comments that he doesn't enjoy murder and that he is merely using the war game to find thrills. He's interested in the life and death game. If he loses, death isn't so bad, and defeating Ginta definitely isn't bad. Ginta smiles, empathizing with Kannochi's pursuit of excitement. Ginta tells Babbo that it's time to use "that". Babbo agrees, though it hurts his pride as a gentleman. Ginta closes his eyes and begins to change the flow of his magic.

Sensing Ginta drawing out magic power from within, Kannochi wonders if Ginta is about to summon Gargoyle. Instead, Ginta then use Babbo's new fourth power, Alice. Alice both heals Ginta and removes the curse of him, as Ginta wishes to have a fair fight. With the failure of Body Candle, however, Kannochi himself begins to melt, and he regrets using Body Candle instead of starting with a "street fight". Ginta attempts to use Alice again, though Babbo says he won't have enough time to do so. Before melting fully, Kannochi gives Ginta some final words to encourage him to keep fighting, and warns him that from then on Team MÄR will be fighting the Knights, the true enemy.

Ginta sorrowfully acknowledges that Kannochi only ever knew of battles that involved killing and never experienced fights where outside of the battlefield the opponents could be friends, and that if they had met under different circumstances, they could've had a fun fight.

Aftermath[]

Upon returning Ginta finally learns of Phantom's deception as Tom. He becomes enraged on finally meeting the killer of his father, but is held back. Phantom then gives his reason for the conquest of MÄR Heaven and asks Ginta to join him, but he vehemently rejects his offer and reaffirms his decision to beat him. After Phantom leaves Ginta tries to use Alice to heal Alviss and Alan's curses. It works for Alan, but is unsuccessful on Alviss. Gaira then annouces that it is time for Team MÄR to train in the training gates again, but this time they must train against their own shadow. After successfully beating his shadow Ginta along with the others return stronger and ready to compete in the next round.

Round 4[]

All of Team MÄR except for Alan are transported to the next battlefield, an ice stage. First Alviss easily defeats Mr. Hook, next Jacks beats Kollekio, Dorothy easily beats Avrute and adheres to Ginta's plea not to kill, then Nanashi draws against Aqua. For each time they didn't win Rapunzel would kill the members on her team which angered Ginta every time. When Ginta was ready to have his rematch against Girom he was so angry that it was detrimentally effecting his ability to fight. Eventually Babbo was able to calm him down and Ginta was able to easily turn the match around against Girom and send him flying. For the last battle Dorothy sustains some serious injuries, but prevails against Rapunzel and learns about the truth of Diana.

After returning from the battle they learn that the fights have been suspended for a day and Dorothy decides she wants to bring everyone with here on her return trip to Caldea. After arriving Ginta learns from Babbo that he has been there before. After entering Ginta is distracted by the amazing beauty of the magic country. Upon meeting Caldea's Grand Elder Ginta learns the truth about Diana and Dorothy's mission to find her and kill her. He opposes the idea of Dorothy killing her own sister, but after hearing Alan describe the First Great War and Snow's conviction he understands the some people just have burdens they need to shoulder.

While talking with the Elder the Chess Pieces attack Caldea and Dorothy and Ginta go to the front lines to defend it. Here Ginta defeats many of their members including those of the Rook class and it is during these battles that he understands the meaning of death in war. Phantom then shows himself, but doesn't fight Ginta seriously. Despite being defeated Ginta manages to harm him before he falls into unconsciousness.

Upon returning to awareness the Elder then explains the origins of Babbo. How the consciousness of the previous elder was downloaded into Babbo and then Diana stole Babbo and put the consciousness of Caldea's Orb into him. This consciousness eventually left him and a new one entered. The elder uses magic to help restore the memories. Upon doing this Babbo clarifies with Ginta who he is, confusing Ginta.

After this Team MÄR returns to Reginleif Castle with new ÄRMs and knowledge. There they meet Ash, a knight, playing with some children who informs Ginta that they will be fighting each other in the battle tomorrow. During the night Ginta reminisces about his battle with Phantom and if he is strong enough, but Jack and Babbo help come to his defense and encourage him.

Round 5[]
Match 3[]

Ginta and his teammates give Jack encouragement take on Candice of the Knight class, telling him not to underestimate her for being a girl. While watching the match, Ginta reminds Jack to show that he's become a man but panics when Candice uses her Boulder Crush technique on him. Candice tells Pozun to call the match, but before he can Ginta and Snow interrupt him both saying the fight isn't over. At that moment, a series of vines come through the cracks where the boulders crashed together along with a bean pod. The pod splits in half and out comes an uninjured Jack, who explains that it's a variant of his earth beans, Bean Shield, a technique he developed for situations like this.

The match continues seemingly in Jack's favor as he's delivering numerous attacks on Candice. However, once Candice summons her Guardian ÄRM, Gorgon, Jack's body immediately begins to petrify into stone from the feet up. Ginta assures Snow that even if Jack becomes a statue, he can dispel the curse with Alice's healing power. Alviss corrects Ginta, saying that it won't work because the petrification isn't from a Darkness ÄRM and the Guardian's power is incredibly strong. Ginta's confidence then turns to panic as recalls meeting Jack shortly after he arrived in MÄR Heaven and all the adventures and struggles they've had together, and he screams Jack's name. Hearing Ginta's voice, Jack calms down and is able to summon his new Guardian ÄRM, Mehitos, just in time to destroy Candice's Guardian ÄRM and end the match in a draw. Ginta and his teammates run to Jack lying on the sand and Snow sits him up. Everyone praises him for such a great battle, and their attention then turns to the next match between Ginta and Ash.

Match 4[]

At the start of the battle Ginta readies Babbo but before he can use of of Babbo's forms Ash's torso separates from his legs, freaking out everyone on Team MÄR. The torso half comes flying toward Ginta and Babbo who run in terror from the dismembered torso. Ash separates his right arm from it's shoulder and grabs Ginta's head. It gives him a gentle pet on the head before delivering a powerful punch. Ginta ask what's with Ash and Ash explains that it's the Dimensional ÄRM, Split Parts. It allows the user to divide his body parts and move them about. Ash again rushes at Ginta with his left arm outstretched. Gina summons Hammer Arm and makes multiple attacks at Ash's torso, however his separated body avoids every attack with ease. Having avoided all of Ginta's attacks, Ash reforms his body.

Ginta, angry that Ash isn't taking the battle seriously, changes Babbo to Bubble Launcher. Ash counters by activating the Nature ÄRM, 3D Shadow, who absorbs the bubble at the same time it attacks Ginta. Ginta recognizes Ash's strength while Ash tells Ginta that he doesn't want to fight Ginta who is about the same age as his kids and that he loves children. A confused Ginta ask them why he would side with the Chess. Ash replies by saying that the Chess are strong and that if he wasn't with them then his children would be in danger. If the Chess rule the world then war will cease and there will be peace. Without war the children of the world wouldn't have to die. Ginta, enraged by Ash's answer, yells that he is wrong and the Chess have been killing children along with adults. Children won't be able to live in peace until the Chess are destroyed. Babbo agrees with Ginta that everything Ash has said is wrong. Ash explains to Ginta that since he is still a child that he doesn't understand. That no one can defeat Phantom and through this very war, peace will be achieved. Through the Chess, MÄR-Heaven will be made peaceful.

Ash activates his Dimension ÄRM, Psycho Space, saying that there are children in the audience and they shouldn't watch the rest of the battle going on from here. A dome begins to appear and surrounds both Ginta and Ash. Ginta begins to feel dizzy and mentions that it feels like his power is being depleted. Babbo agrees and notices it as well. Ash explains that through the power of Psycho Space the magic power of everyone within itis cut in half. Ash's body separates once again with Split Parts and his arm grabs Ginta's shoulder. From that touch a bomb appears above Ginta's shoulder. Ginta comments it looks like Babbo although Babbo is insulted by this comment and calls Ginta an insolent ass. Ash explains that it is a bomb, the Weapon ÄRM, Walking Bomb. He goes on saying that whenever someone takes damage the bomb will go over their head and will continue as the fight goes on, all the while growing larger until it finally goes boom. Ash informs Ginta that it's a "game" which he's never lost. Ginta tells Ash that it sounds like fun and that all Ginta will have to do is keep attacking. He charges at Ash and hits Ash in the face with Hammer Arm. Furthermore, Ash realizes that even though Ginta's magic power is cut in have, he still has great concentration and that this is perhaps why Phantom is so interested in him. Ash and Ginta exchange blows back and forth, Ash comments that the game has been fun but the size of the bomb indicates that it will explode soon.

Ash summons his Guardian ÄRM, Death. A masked guardian with four scythes for arms appears and attacks Ginta by launching it's scythes at Ginta, cutting him. The Walking Bomb appears in front of Ginta as the wick burns out and creates an enormous explosion. Ash simply tells Ginta that it's game over. Even though Ash is Ginta's opponent he still fears about the safety of a child and runs towards the explosion asking if Ginta is OK and making sure he isn't dead. Ginta informs Ash that he's alive in the safety of Cushion Jelly. Ash is glad that Ginta is alive by lectures him that his timing for using it was off and he still got injured but Ginta doesn't want his sympathy. Ash begs Ginta to give up so that he won't be killed while still a child, if Ginta gives up the world can be peaceful under the Chess's rule. Ginta recalls all of his encounters with Phantom: the death, the destruction and the cruelty. Ginta tells Ash that he's wrong, that Phantom doesn't want peace for MÄR-Heaven. He wants nothing but massacre and destruction. Ginta assures Ash that he will defeat Phantom so there is no way he'll lose to Ash. Ash quickly notices that even though Ginta's magic is cut in half his power is gradually increasing. Ginta summons Gargoyle while Ash counters with Death. Ash is disappointed that Ginta still doesn't understand and that he'll have to knock some sense into Ginta. Death once again sends his scythes at Ginta hitting him. Ginta once again informs Ash that he is in the wrong and that the Chess have no desire to see children smile. At the same time Gargoyle charges and fires its beam at Death, rending the guardian in two. The beam goes on and shatters the Psycho Space.

The team is glad to see Ginta alive and Ash finally sees Ginta's conviction, challenging him to defeat Phantom and entrusting him with the smiles on all the children. Admitting defeat, Babbo remarks to Ash on how weird he is since he can still fight. Ash replies that it doesn't matter so long as children are happy. Ash then removes his mask and reveals his face, sticking his tongue out as he tells Ginta that he's counting on him. Ginta grins, giving a peace gesture, and Ash puts his mask back on in satisfaction and walks back to his teammates. After the exchange Ginta is declared the winner only for a portal to appear, as Galian appears he surprisingly mentions that someone actually made Ash lose his fighting spirit.

Upon returning from that battlefield Ginta meets Ian again who promises to kill him next time they fight. Before the next battle while relaxing Ginta reaffirms his decision to complete what his father couldn't and defeat the Chess.

Round 6[]

For the next Ginta volunteers to be one of the five competing and is transported to the mushroom field. Here Alan loses his fight to Chaton because of a fear of cats he picked up from Edward. Alviss defeats Kouga and then Dorothy defeat Pinocchion. While fighting Magical Roe Snow is kidnapped to be delivered to Diana, but before Ginta can chase after her he has to defeat Ian or else they would be disqualified. Ian reveals his reason for fighting is out of revenge for Ginta's role in causing the punishment of Gido. Ginta with his determination to save Snow fights back and defeats him. Ian decides to quit the Chess Pieces and take his own path to save Gido and confirms Ginta's suspicion that Snow is with Diana.

Upon returning Ginta and Team MÄR are greeted by Phantom and his team and is told that despite having no role in kidnapping Snow Phantom will beat Ginta in their fight tomorrow. To prepare all of Team MÄR goes inside Garia's training gates to train for the day leading up to the fight.

Round 7[]
Match 1[]
Match 2[]

To celebrate Alviss's victory, Ginta and his teammates go to the local bath house, despite everyone wearing swimsuits. Ginta delightfully jumps into the hot bath with Dorothy and splashes water with her. While they floated, Dorothy opens up about her feelings on killing her sister after the War Games to Ginta, He then joins his male teammates to pamper Dorothy as they offer their own spa treatment.

Match 3[]

Dorothy defeats Chimera and that night Alan takes his team out for dinner at a local restaurant. The team was initially repulsed by the cuisine, consisting of several large insects and lizards, but they all change their perceptions and dig in after Ginta bravely tries it first. Nanashi and his team become alarmed when Alan suddenly grabs a passing customer's arm due to the bracelet ÄRM he wore. Alviss calls to him to snap him out of his angry trance, and he lets go of the customer's arm. Alan goes outside for fresh air and Alviss follows. The rest of the team continues eating, but realizes none of them have money to pay for the bill. They then turn to Edward to pay for them.

Match 4[]
Match 5[]
Match 6[]

After the War Games[]

While Dorothy and Alviss fight Rolan and Candice, Alan and Ginta storm Lestava Castle to rescue Snow, and end up fighting Magical Lou, Snow's childhood caretaker and her kidnapper under Queen's orders. In the end, however, Magical Lou frees Snow in a way of apologizing for putting Snow through all she had gone through instead of helping her. Afterwards, Alviss' Zombie Tattoo, which he received from Phantom six years ago, awakens and puts him under Phantom's control, and in the end Team MÄR fights Alviss to free him. Just after that Team MÄR meets the Ghost Chess, who end up capturing them along with the former Chess Pieces Loco and Chaton.

Out of annoyance that Ginta and Jack were not taking them seriously, the Flat Sisters activate Rotkäppchen Waltzer while battling them along the coast of Pultgayin Island. The boys were dumbfounded, but Ginta quickly snapped out it and countered it with Babbo's Version 3, Gargoyle. Rotkäppchen Waltzer uses its Finger Beam and Super Jet Punch against Gargoyle. Saint Anger joins in the fight against Rotkäppchen Waltzer, as Alan and Nanashi arrive on the scene. Gargoyle arm thrusts Rotkäppchen Waltzer down, and the girls receive a message from Sarah Band and Kapel Meister to retreat, as their mission to capture Alviss was successful.

Fighting with Dorothy, Ginta, and Babbo in the ruined city, they activate Rotkäppchen Waltzer and drop Apple Bombs upon the trio. Babbo changes into Version 3, Gargoyle, to even the playing field, but even in the test of size and physical strength, he's overwhelmed by Rotkäppchen Waltzer's and use of their Big Missile attack. Alviss, possessed by the power of the Zombie Tattoo, joins in the fight and like a rabid animal attacks Rotkäppchen Waltzer. They launch a Super Jet Punch at him, but he effortlessly repels the rocket fists with his 13 Totem Pole rod and jump attacks them, cancelling out the ghostly guardian.

After absorbing his remaining Ghost Chess subordinates, Kapel Meister activated his Ghost ÄRM, Analysis From Abyss, and transformed into humanoid demon, growing horns, wings, and a tail. He then opens his mouth to continuously exhale smoke that would solidify into monstrous serpent. The serpent immediately began attacking Team MÄR while they frantically jumped out of the way with each dive. Ginta, Babbo, and Dorothy battled against the serpent and Snow, Jack, Nanashi, and Alan went after Kapel Meister himself. He stops producing smoke to fly up and attempt to defend his serpent from Babbo, Version 3: Gargoyle, but is immediately met with a barrage of Nature (and Dimension) ÄRM attacks. Kapel Meister is able to withstand the assault and hold his position, preaching that the magnificence of his Ghost ÄRM could never fall to lower magic such as theirs. Ginta dismisses his delusion, saying they could never lose to power gained from sacrificing his teammates.

The serpent takes a direct hit from Gargoyle's maximum power attack, instantly dissolving and Kapel Meister's body begins to crumble from having been indirectly hit as well. Out of anger, he uses an attack from his abdomen, causing the islet that the coliseum was situated on to sink. Dorothy rushes on her broom to catch Ginta and Babbo, who were both free-falling into the ocean below. Before she could get there in time, Alviss appears to catch him instead, as he was making his way back down the stairs from Clavier. Realizing that Alviss still had his Zombie Tattoo, Kapel Meister laughs that the Almetici ÄRM was a myth after all, concluding that Ghost ÄRMs were truly the most powerful as he completely disintegrates and dies.

Just before leaving Pultgayin Island, Snow falls into a trance from a delayed activated charm that Diana had inserted into her ribbon bow. She attempts to use hypnosis on Babbo to erase his memories and steal him away from Ginta. Despite Ginta and the others being successful in stopping her, she falls unconscious and doesn't wake up. Using a psychic machine in Kapel Meister's castle laboratory, Dorothy hooks Ginta and the comatose Snow up so Ginta can enter into Snow's mind.

Darkness in Snow's Heart

Ginta learns the truth about Snow.

In her mind, Ginta finds Snow wallowing in despair over her feelings of deep ineptitude, lack of self-esteem, and jealousy of Koyuki. She retreats further back with Ginta chasing after her, confused at seeing projections of Snow's memories featuring him and Koyuki growing up in Tokyo. She tells him the truth about her dreams are in fact Koyuki's memories and vice versa, as they are connected. Snow was jealous that Ginta never relied on her like he always did with Koyuki, and desired to have their radiant relationship. Yet, she felt that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't "become" Koyuki.

Ginta firmly makes his way to Snow, who lashes out to keep him away by attacking him with all of her ÄRMs. Ginta merely tosses them aside and pushes through. Snow began to cry, and Ginta gently hugs her, assuring her that to him, she is Snow, his precious teammate. She comments that wasn't fair, yet he was so warm to hold. The two then wake up, though Snow seemingly has no memory of what happened since she and Babbo went to fetch Dorothy from the castle. Alan convinces her that she merely collapsed from fatigue. Edward pulls out a spare ribbon bow for Snow, as her previous one had been lost in the waves. She asks Ginta if it's on crooked, but is surprised to see him sorrowfully crying. He wipes his tears and assures her it's nothing, keeping the truth he learned of the two girls to himself.

Once they return to Lestava Castle, King decides to take action and kill Team MÄR and their allies. In knight armor, King quickly disposes of Alan. While Ginta and Dorothy head to Caldea to free Caldea's Elder from an ÄRM used on him, the rest of Team MÄR reunite with Pano, who reveals that her brother and father were also killed by King. Nanashi, Snow, and Alviss try to oppose King, but just before Ginta and Dorothy return the King kills both Nanashi and Snow, although they help Alviss escape. After Ian, Gido, and Ash return, Ginta, Dorothy, and Alviss learn of King and Queen's plan to take over Ginta's world, and their three friends try to oppose King, but Ash dies, and Ian and Gido promise to take care of his children friends. Alviss is then the next to fight King, and King reveals that he is really Danna, the hero of the last War Games, and kills Alviss.

Ginta and Dorothy then return to Lestava Castle, and Dorothy fights Diana, her own sister, and wins. Afterwards, King shows up and kills the weakened Dorothy just after Diana dies, and then fights Ginta. During battle, Ginta discovers that his father's soul was within Babbo all along while the Caldea's Orb was in Danna's body. After Caldea's orb is removed from Danna, Caldea's Orb takes on its true form and invades Earth. With Caldea's Orb on Earth, Ginta takes Babbo's Gargoyle to Earth for the final battle. Using the power of all people in MÄR Heaven, Ginta sends a devastating blow to Caldea's Orb that destroys the orb forever. Afterwards, Alan, Garon, Leno, Nanashi, Dorothy, Ash, Fuugi, and Alviss are revived, and Ginta, with his father, return to their world. Once there, Danna reunites with his wife, and Ginta does so with Koyuki, who has merged with Snow to create one soul so that both of them could be with Ginta.

ÄRM[]

Babbo contains the unique ability to download the souls and personalities, essentially their consciousness, into himself. This is what gives Babbo his sentience.

In his base form the typical way of attacking is by swinging the weighted chain and use this to throw Babbo at an opponent. When the user gets into a close range he can use the hammer for a physical attack.

Besides attacking this form also has its own unique abilities. The chain connected the ball to the hammer is capable of increasing in length so the user can attack enemies from a distance and when not attacking the chain can be shortened so as not to interfere with the users mobility. The hammer can also change sizes from being smaller enough to resemble a normal sized hammer to growing and becoming large enough to rest on one's shoulder. The ball with Babbo's face can also rapidly increase in size and can grow as large and heavy as a house.

Babbo can be used for many unique ways of attacking by accessing his many different versions. However, these versions cannot be accessed without the Magic Stones that are attributed to them. To create these versions data is recorded from the users imagination. In total there are eight spots for Magic Stones, four on each side.
