Elto Town (エルトタウン, Erutotaun) is a significant settlement in the Southern Continent.

Toponymy and Origin[]

Elto Town is likely named for Monte Elto, a mountain in Lombardy, Italy. The name Elto derives from the Venetian term Elt which means high.

The name could also derive from a fictitious village in England named "Eltdown" in The Sealed Casket by Richard F. Searight, and incorporated into Cthulhu Mythos. Discovered in this village are twenty-three mysterious pottery fragments inscribed with hieroglyphs known as the Eltdown Shards.

History[]

Second Great MÄR Heaven War[]

On the first day of the war, Elto Town was attacked by the Chess Pieces at 5:12 PM. The invasion force summoned mighty golem-like stone guardians that toppled the town's bell tower and countless buildings were set ablaze.

At 5:33 PM, Cross Guard soldiers who were stationed in the town set out an alert through their communication earrings a warning to the rest of the army that the day they dreaded had arrived: the beginning of the Second Great MÄR Heaven War.
